My hair is so porous that it will not accept any temporary hair coloring, what can I do?

My hair is natural, every time I try a temporary color, Nothing happens. My hair is so porous that it will not accept any temporary hair coloring, what can I do?
Do alot of deep conditioning and hot oil treatments every week for about a month, then dye your hair.My hair is so porous that it will not accept any temporary hair coloring, what can I do?
Is your hair unhealthy, unhealthy hair doesnt take color very well. Do you wash and deep condition often?
Sorry hun, you need to go to a salon. Your hair needs treatments. If this is too expensive go to a beauty school.

Whats a good temporary hair coloring dye?

I want like blue streaks that wash out, but what brand do I get and where is it at? How expensive, and will it damage my hair?Whats a good temporary hair coloring dye?
Hi There, try Sallies Beauty Supplies. If you don't have one near you, check it out online at: http://www.thecreativestudio.com/main.js鈥?/a> stuff is a semi-permanent coloring. It last about 6 weeks. They have some great colors also. If you want your hair to be shiny like the movie stars after they have their hair colored, try the clear Jazzing over your hair color job. Put it on, Wrap your head in a plastic cap, Wrap a (hot as you can take it) wet towel around your head, leave it on for about 30 minutes or so....rinse. It gives your hear incredible shine. Happy coloring!!!Whats a good temporary hair coloring dye?

I love Revlon! I dye my hair with a box of Revlon then high light it with Revlon's Frost %26amp; Glow!

What is a safe not harsh hair coloring?

I love my rich brown hair color, but I don't like the gray I see on the crown of my head! I would like a hair color that will fade with time. The only time that I have ever dyed my hair was in the 80's with Sun-In and that was a fiasco. What is a safe not harsh hair coloring?
Well, I suggest using Manic Panic semi-permanent, if you want to dye it.

If you just want to get the grey out, there's some stuff that comes in a little tube that you can either mix in with dye or shampoo that strips the grey from your hair. You can find it at your local beauty supply store or online. Just ask for it.

Good luck! :]What is a safe not harsh hair coloring?
I think you should use Nice n easy and see if that stuff works for you.

Can black people use Herbal Essence hair coloring products?

I know that black hair is different from white hair, and thus we use different products. I was wondering if it's ok to use herbal essence hair coloring products on black hair? I wouldn't do it myself and I would go to my hair dresser to get it done... Should I just let her use her coloring products? I know I should probably consult with her first, but I'm just wondering what people here say.Can black people use Herbal Essence hair coloring products?
yeah i think soCan black people use Herbal Essence hair coloring products?
I don't see how it could hurt.
i can't see any reason why you couldn't use herbal essences coloring products.. go for it.. talk to your hair dresser tho
i don't think that the color would show up. i think there may actually be special coloring products for your type hair. and if you try to lighten it, it's gunna turn yellow just because it's black. your stylist knows how to take that yellow out.
i don't know. i use Nice-N-Easy. It all depends on the type and texture of your hair, and your genes.

And if your hairdresser is really good, she would tell you that highlights for black people are not good! My hairdresser told me that highlights only last for a good month, and when they start to fade away, they will take your hair out! She makes any woman who wants them to sign a consent form saying that she told them what will happened, and that she's not responsible for what WILL happen to your hair.
I would get your hair stylist to color your hair, especially if it is dark and needs more lightening than say, a person with thinner lighter hair would need.
I would just stick to my regular stylist if i were you. Most of them time we as African Americans need extra moisture...and most of the time products made for caucasions does not have that extra moisture we need.
yes i dont belive when people say thats for white people or thats for black people you can use it it helps with color

schwartzkoff live range, they give a reli vibrant red colour etc 2 yer hair :)What is the best brand of do it yourself hair coloring dye?
do NOT use nice and easy , i used medium brown [ i think it was called] 118, and as i washed it , it started to fade leaving me ginger, that was 2 years ago and im still trying to get back to normal, i also put a L'Oreal over the top to try adn get my natural back and it made me more ginger so i had to put a dark brown nice and easy on again and start growing it out from scratch. the L'Oreal might of only done thst though because i had previous dye left in x
The best box color is Garnier Nutriesse. The avocado oil they include really helps keep the damage to a minimum. The color is a nice rich color and usually lasts 8-10 weeks depending on how fast her hair grows and if she use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair.
    Loreal
    Red Sharpie
welll it would probably depend on her hair type (greasy...dry...normal etc) but i might recommend L'Oreal
Clairol Perfect 10 or Nice 'N Easy
    Revlon

  • What is the best way to get at home hair coloring off of your skin?

Rub with petrol or keroseneWhat is the best way to get at home hair coloring off of your skin?
Alot of scrubbing or else give it a day or two and it will go away on it's own with regular showers. What is the best way to get at home hair coloring off of your skin?
You can go to a beauty supply store like Sally's that is open to the public and buy some color remover. It's gentle and will only take off the color that has stained your skin. If that isn't an option I would try an exfoliant with a grit to it. Skin stains because it is dry so if the color is really stubborn, try putting a heavy moisturizer on it and then exfoliate. Next time you do your color, try basing your hairline with a cream or heavy conditioner to repel the color from the skin. In addition to that, remove any color on your skin right away. One great little secret is that color removes color. So next time, right after you're done applying the color (if it's cream based), dab a little on your finger or the color brush and rub it on the parts that touched your skin, then clean it off right away with cotton or an old towel right up to your hairline. Good luck!
You can buy some hair color remover from a beauty salon shop.

But I usually just run the corner of a towel in water and put a drop of shampoo on it. Make it lather up and then rub the color on my skin. That usually does the trick.
Peroxide and a lot of scrubbing.
rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab
put a small amount of vaseline on then leave it for about an hour then take a shower and scrub it a bit with soap, works every time.
Color removes color. Or shampoo and water

L'Oreal Preference or Superior Preference - excellent at home hair dyes.

ALWAYS do a strand test first. :-)
It's not the product that you use it's the professional colorist that mixes and applies it.
Salons have the best stuff that does the least damage.
I think that the ';natural instincts'; or ';natural match'; (forgot what is called) brand works very well. It makes the color look natural. And it seems healthier than the others I've tried. My friend recommends ';Herbal Essence';, she said it made her hair soft.

I have been touching up my hair for the past few years and I have always used L'Oreal and have been really happy with it, both with the colour and with the lovely shiny look and texture when it is done.

But, home colouring does not last too long, although I do mine about every 3-4 months. If you had it done professionally it would probably last longer or if you are wanting to colour grey, then I think professional is the way to go.What are the best hair color products for home coloring?

Professional color products are best, but I've also had really good results from Clairol Herbal Essences.
i'd say the herbel essence ones, just remember to NOT go cheap on the dye because it makes a HUGGGGGGGE difference!
I always swear by profesional products. That junk you buy at a department store has a habit of turning hair funky colors.

  • How much does it cost to get hair coloring stripped out of your hair?

Try Color Oops (found at Sally's) or Prell shampoo. It'll honestly take your hair from black to red or blonde -- it did it for me. However, Prell will only work if you have used whatever hair dye it was once or twice. You can find it anywhere, and I suggest it before going to a salon.

After I get my hair colored my thin hair looks thick and healthy and holds a style, but it does not last. How can I make the eftects of coloring last to keep my hair this way?Hair coloring on thin hair results that last?
Well when u dye ur hair it'll never stay as long as u wish it to, but u could always try using a leave in hair conditioner. I use a leave in hair conditioner called Results(by Charles Worthington) and although it leaves my hair looking healthy im not sure if it would work for this sort of situation. whenever you dry your hair, blow dry upside down. Then, take a straightener and straighten the ends only.

My hair's thin and if I straighten all my hair (on top too) it looks so thin, hence the straighten-only-on-ends rule.

Lighter hair color after coloring it dark?

I just dyed my hair a very dark brown today and was wondering if after it fades if I want it to be a lighter color if that is possible. Thanks!Lighter hair color after coloring it dark?
i lay out in the sun a lot, bcuz i prefer 2 keep my natural hair color, but if u want it lightr, by big sis got her hair a dark chocolate brown, and wanted 2 go lighter, so all she did was go back 2 the salon and got light hightlights in her hair so that it wasn't a HUGE change, but the color now fit her liking... hope i helped and good luck!Lighter hair color after coloring it dark?
Well depending if you've dyed you're entire head before (i had only done streaks then since my hairs a dark brown i dyed my whole head the darkest brown before jet black with maroon/reddish/purplish streaks) and within a month the crazy streaks had faded to a nice caramel colour and the dark brown into my natural dark brown, maybe a tad more chestnutty or lighter ;) So it may just fade on it's own if it's one of your first times! I had dyed it jet black a month after that and it kind of faded into brown, but the next time i dyed it black it stayed jet black the whole time :) So my answer is yes, if you leave it (i think it's 6 weeks?) after you had it dyed you can dye overtop of it, but check if it fades on it's own first :) And dont dye it too much lighter after 6 weeks, but a few shades for sure. Good luck!
yeah i dyed mine a couple days ago. i suggest using soap (bar of soap). scrub as hard as possible if you want it lighter now. the dye will fall of.. but u should at least wait about 6 weeks before you color your hair again. but you will possibly have to go with a light brown at first then go bright blonde or red or something like that..

    hope this helps. :)
hmm.. well this is what my friend told me to do when i had a similar problem..she told me to cut the lemon in half, squeeze it, and put the lemon juice on my hair and leave it for about 40 min. or about an hour.. and then wash my hair with a shampoo...i only tried it once so i dont know if it works or not..but when my friend tried it..she said it worked LOL hope this helped [:
I found that using dandruff shampoo can help ';lift'; some of the excess colour. But be aware that it is harsh on your hair.

But if you want it significantly lighter, it'd be best to see a hairdresser.
    yes,

although you want to make sure it fades out quite a bit before dying it lighter because it will only lighten the spots that have faded out and you'll have different colors going on
You have to bleach it. Then it will be a nasty shade of orange and you have to keep bleaching it until your desired lightness. Then dye it the color you want it.
depends on the type of dye used and if its professional or not. but it should come out if you spend a lot of time in the pool/showering/in the water.
    lay out in the sun!

Which brand of home hair coloring kit works the best, most consistantly?

I'd rather you really know from comparing the brands, not just ones you like or don't like.

I'm blonde, thinking about dying my hair some color just for kicks - probably a less natural color, more red/purple...

Are there any brands I shuld steer clear of? Details would be appreciated. Thanks!Which brand of home hair coloring kit works the best, most consistantly?
Don't do it. You are blond, you try to dye it red it will turn out pink no matter which shade of red you choose. I have been dyeing my hair red for nine years. My experience the cheap brands work the same. (that is all I use and have yet to have a problem.) My personal favorite stuff to use is a three step process I believe it is made by Lo real. It is about $17.00 at Wal-mart but it's great. You dye the hair as normal; towel dry it; apply the high lights; rinse; condition;and then style. It takes about a hour and a half but it works. What you should try to do is dye it a darker color like brown or in your case light brown; wait a couple weeks (two to be exact), and then dye it red. That way it wont turn pink. Use a heavy conditioner when you dye it the second time so not to dry the hair out. Once it is red the next time you go to dye your hair you don't have to keep dyeing it brown. Only the first time you dye it red.Which brand of home hair coloring kit works the best, most consistantly?
    melon green

Hair color, How do I stop coloring my hair?

I'm prematurely graying and have been coloring my hair for years, but I'm tired of the expense and hassle of it.

Problem is how do I just go natural and let the grays show? Isn't it going to look odd that I only have gray at the roots until the hair color is completely grown out?

I'm not entirely gray only about 30-40 % of my hair is gray the rest is a very dark brown.Hair color, How do I stop coloring my hair?
You could go to a salon and get all the color stripped out hun, that's about the only way, besides letting it grow out.

They do sell color strippers OTC,but I would NOT advise trying this at home, too much can go wrong, your hair can turn reddish/orangey/gold or a combination of all 3 all over the head.

You could go visit/call a few local salons and get a price estimate of how much they would charge you to strip it,it's damaging..but no more than a lot of chemical services..and in the long run(with deep conditioning treatments, ect),your hair will be MUCH healthier giving up the monthly coloring.

Good Luck!Hair color, How do I stop coloring my hair?
I would say just let it grow out. add maybe just a couple of streaks of grey in the dye, and dye in the grey. (dye meaning hair color) that will blend it in a lot more until it grows out

I always put mine up in a black scrunchie. I use medium brown color, so it doesn't show on the fabric, and I rinse it out then wash it with darks.

I will never have my hair professionally colored again. I've done it twice, at two different very reputable salons. Both were the worst colors I've ever had! In my experience, home hair color (I tend to stick with the non-permanent 28 shampoos stuff because it's gentler on my hair) result in a less dramatic color change. I usually leave it in a little less than the directions call for, mostly because I want subtle color change, not big ones.

Usually after the dye is in i twist it and put it n the top of my head. What I will never do again is try to go from dark to blonde (turned kinda orange) and I won't go light to black (got green streaks lol). Now my friend does my hair and we use professional dye not the box stuff lol
when I dye my hair i put it up. I put on the color and twist it up and but it on the top of my head. I dyed my hair red and wanted to be blond, and I went to a salon to see what the could do and they told me that i would have to strip the color and then dye it, so instead of doing that I dyed it brown then i waited and and added a hint of blond. Oh by the way I used color oops to get the brown out and it is safe to use at home and you can dye your hair same dye but it only works for dark hair colors not light. So just be sure you want red as a hair color and just be fore warned that it is hard to maintain :)

Is there a good over-the-counter product for hair coloring?

I had professional color (dark blonde)put in 9 months ago and it of course has grown out a lot. I want to go back to my natural color (brown) but don't really want to spen $100 plus to do it at a salon. And I don't want to make it look bad with a bad product. Is there a good over-the-counter product for hair coloring?
    In short, no.

I would always always go to a salon1Is there a good over-the-counter product for hair coloring?
I have used Herbal Essence everytime i color my hair for about 3 years now. And i have not had a problem with it at all. I have used others and it seams like they are always changeing there colors, so i couldn't alwayes get the same one. And they don't color as evenly.
Hair color products that aren't professional are more harsh, generally speaking. Most all of them are permanent colors, which means they will lift color from your hair, and then deposit hair color. This could be damaging, especially if you do this process over and over. As the color fades, it will show the hair in it's lifted state, this is why you see people with a brassy color in their hair.

If you were in a salon, they would fix that by putting permanent color on the roots, and semi-permanent on the previously colored hair.

If cost is a huge issue, try a beauty college. They are supervised by their teachers, and what you need is a fairly simple process.

    Good luck!
    REVLON
    L'Oreal is very good.
When I colored my hair brown I used L'Oreal Colour Creme Excellence. It didn't damage my hair at all just buy it in a colour lighter than what you want the end colour to be + mix the solution well.
If you go to your local Rite Aide you can go into the hair department and find your color and dye it back to your natural color. That's easy to do.
    100% by Garnier

I have coloured my hair at home with a friends help for years and have always been pleased with the results. Of the brands I have tried, I always come back to 100% by Garnier. I find the colours are true to themselves, easy to work with, nice to your hair and last longer than other brands.

Get a friend to help you and the more you do it, the better you get, like anything else, so if you're disappointed the first time, don't give up.

Finally, use the 800 number on the side of the box if you need advice.

Have fun and relax-it's hair. It will grow and you'll colour it again.
Go to a Salon sister!! If you get something at the store.. Jesus Christ.. I don't even want to fathom it. ha.
Loreal, but not the kind from a drug store. Buy from Sally's Beauty Supply. You can buy color there even if you are not a licensed beautician. They will also help you pick the color closest to your natural color. I like the beautiful browns collection. Also be sure you use a protein or color filler, also available a Sally's. This protects your hair from absorbing more color in some areas than others. This is especiall important if your hair is long or was lightened with bleach.
    use loreal

How can i remove blue hair coloring from my hair?

i bleached my hair (just my bangs) and put blue manic panic in it. i want to make it brown just like the rest of my hair. How can i remove blue hair coloring from my hair?
Wash your hair really good, and then get some of your natural hair color dye at Target of any other store you know of.How can i remove blue hair coloring from my hair?
you will have to wash out till its nearly gone and dye brown over it.
darling your only recourse may be to re-dye your hair the colour you would like it to be. Even If the blue washes out, your hair will still be bleached. I'm afraid re-dying is the only option you have.
Manic Panic generally washes out at a lightning-fast speed. I say you just wait maybe a week or two for all of it to wash out (depending on your hair-washing routine).

After the blue/green (it will turn green) gets to a certain color, you will have to re-dye the same color as the rest of your hair.

Manic Panic washes out, bleach does not.
get the color that matches your hair in a dye hair thing and change it back. if your bangs were brown and their now blonde you have to put ketchup in it to get it all out or else it will turn green. trust me my friend did that to and her hair had green stripes in it for 3 weeks.

How can my mom remove non permanent black hair coloring?

last night my mom colored her hair black and it turned purple. Help! How can my mom remove non permanent black hair coloring?
If you have ethnic hair, the dish detergent suggestion would strip the hair shaft further. This happened to my mother except her hair turned green. Her childhood friend is a hair stylist (over 30 yrs experience). She came over to the house and applied a brown/black rinse. Her hair looked normal for the next day. The best idea might be to go to a trusted stylist. How can my mom remove non permanent black hair coloring?
if the bottle of the dye said ';Semi-premenant'; i've heard that dish soap works to get a lot of the dye out. My friend said that she ended up with blue hair once, and it got the dye out.
    Dish detergent. Really.

If hair coloring directions don't directly state to wash your hair or not to, what should you do?

I'm using L'Oreal Preference and the directions don't say whether or not you should wash your hair prior to dying. What do you think I should do?If hair coloring directions don't directly state to wash your hair or not to, what should you do?
I've used that product over and over for many years.

Do not wash your hair prior to dying. Dye your hair either first thing in the morning before you wash it (then don't wash it until the next day) or in the evening after dinner.

It's best to leave it 24 - 48 hours after you dye it before washing it again. If hair coloring directions don't directly state to wash your hair or not to, what should you do?
It's not necessary to wash your hair before coloring it. The color will take better if you don't, from what I know.
MOST OF THE TIME YOU MUST WASH YOUR HAIR 24 HOURS PRIOR TO USING A DYE BEACUSE YOU NEED TO GET RID OF OILS, DIRT , ECT,, UNLESS OTHER WISE SPECIFIED !
every time i've been to the salon, they say not to bother washing your hair first
they want you to work with clean dry hair. if you've washed your hair a day or 2 ago and don't have alot of product in your hair you will be fine. just brush it out really good before starting.
Hair color should be applied to clean, dry hair. Unless it's really dirty go ahead and apply the color.
Typically it is best to color your hair when it is somewhat dirty.. you should not wash it first or immediately after. I would color it and wait at least 24 hrs to shampoo it. My first roommate was a beautician and tipped me off to this. And I dye my hair alot.. lol
I think that if the directions don't say if you need to then you shouldn't. If you needed to then it would definitely say.
Can you look on the box somewhere for a toll free phone number to call? I have my hair done by my beautician and

she does not wash my hair until she is done with the color.

    Good luck.
I think that's what my mom uses, your not supposed to wash your hair I don't think, I know it says something about it somewhere.
Most say the hair should be clean and dry. It's better to do the color the day after you wash, your scalp is not as tender to the chemicals.
I have been told to use a shampoo that claifys the hair to remove products and then wait till the next day to allow some of the natural oils to come back.
Do not wash it before you color. You are supposed to put the dye on clean, dry, unwashed hair. Wash your hair 24 hours before dying and just don't put in any styling products. This will make the color last longer too.
i would say don't wash it before you dye because most dyes say you shouldn't and dye also doesn't stick as well to smooth, soft, freshly-washed hair.

    hope this helped sweety!
not, unless it has already been several days and you have lots of products built up in your hair.
dont wash you hair before you dye it wash it the day or evening before and try not to put too much stuff in it.

  • In hair coloring cream, what's the difference between 9% and 12% oxidizing solution?

what should i use if i want to go lighter? In hair coloring cream, what's the difference between 9% and 12% oxidizing solution?
The 12% is stronger. If the hair is already colored you can not go lighter using another color. ( With any type of solution.) You would have to use a bleach to do that. You can highlight through the base color to give a softer, lighter look.

What hair coloring/dyeing method does the least damage to your hair?

well if you want to go lighter - go with foils cos they are gentler then streaks and straight bleach.

If darker - you can go to hairdressers and ask whether they have organic hair dye - some do.

Try not to get dye with ammonia in it.What hair coloring/dyeing method does the least damage to your hair?
    buy a glaze

they make your hair shinier and will enhance the colour without dying your hair

that will do the least damage but its not permanent if you do want something long term then you'll probably end up damaging your hair no matter what

use a treatment weekly and it should prevent your hair from damagingWhat hair coloring/dyeing method does the least damage to your hair?
There isn't any 'Least damaging method', Because the color still frys your hair. The least Damaging color would be Semi or Demi Permanent color, which ONLY goes darker.
its least damaging to get it done in a hairdressers

but as most people know its more expensive

I accidentally left my hair coloring in the car one night, and temperatures were pretty low. Still usable?

My mom was freaking out because she thought the chemicals would get messed up in the cold weather and then mess up my hair if I went ahead and used it. Did the cold mess up the chemicals? My cousin said that it would've only tampered with the chemicals if the chemicals had already been mixed, but they hadn't because I had yet to open the box.I accidentally left my hair coloring in the car one night, and temperatures were pretty low. Still usable?
Should be fine, make sure they are room temperature and evenly thawed before use. BRRR! Never use hair dye that was mixed more than 15 minutes prior, they will not work. I accidentally left my hair coloring in the car one night, and temperatures were pretty low. Still usable?
If the chemicals would have already been mixed it would definitely ruin the hair, but since they were not mixed it really shouldn't be a problem.
    DONT USE IT.

If you use it it could really damage your hair, and the colors are most likeley worn out, so your hair would turn out spotty, different colors.

Just buy a new one from the store. Better safe than sorry.

I want to dye my hair by myself. What at-home hair coloring system do u recommend?

I normally go to salon but saving on $ due to recession and just don't see its worth it for just a simple single process.

i am concerned about healthy shiny hair afterwards. i don't want my hair to feel like hay, so i want to be cautious which product i use.I want to dye my hair by myself. What at-home hair coloring system do u recommend?
loreal is the best.have have been using loreal for years and it leaves your hair shiny and soft and the color is very true to the box.I want to dye my hair by myself. What at-home hair coloring system do u recommend?
This may be too much work, but you may like to look into using henna natural dye.

I read it helps to have 2 or more together to help each other rinse out the henna - a real chore.

But it lasts a long time, and it is completely natural. Plus it conditions (makes very soft) the hair.

mountainroseherbs.com online has a great choice of colors and pretty good choices. That is where I found out about it.

Whatever you decide, good luck! :)

How long does Garnier Fructis's hair coloring products last?

I've been thinking about using Garnier Frutise's hair coloring product, Garnier Nutrisse Cream, to lighten my hair. I'm afraid I won't like the color, and that I'll be stuck with it for months. Does anyone know how long Garnier Nutrisse Cream lasts? How long does Garnier Fructis's hair coloring products last?
The Nutrisse, like any other DIY colouring kit lasts about 6 weeks (about as long as it takes for the roots to grow out), then you should be due for a re-up (i.e. touch up).

However, if you're afraid youre not going to like the colour, do as the instruction booklet advises and do a strand test (preferrably on a strand underneath in the back so no one can see it if you hate the colour).

Try going to a place that sells wigs and weaves and try on one that is as close as possible to the colour you wish to dye your hair. See how the wig looks on you and then you wont have to take any chances when dying your hair; that way you will be worry free. How long does Garnier Fructis's hair coloring products last?
if you lighten your hair your bleaching it your hair color wont fade out until it grows out. but if you dye it a darker color it should fade out in about 2 weeks depending on how much you wash it. garnier fructis works really good in my hair i use it to darkin my hair all the time
if its permanent dye it will not come out, it will only fade with time. only the roots will have ur natural colour. if ur unsure about the colour why do u wanna do it. do a strand test and c if u like it or go to a salon or any hair shops that sells wigs and try the colour u want and c if it suits u. dont do it if u r going to start counting months hoping it goes away coz at that time, the time will b moving vey slowly and u'll get all stressed out.

  • What does ';progressive hair coloring'; mean?

    I've always had my hair colored by salons but cannot really afford that now. I looked at store products like Nice %26amp; Easy, and one box said, ';Do not use if you have had progressive hair color.';

Someone else told me not to switch to home products if I've been going to a professional salon all this time.

What to do? I am brunette and usually get it colored dark auburn but can live with brunette again if I have to.What does ';progressive hair coloring'; mean?
Progressive hair coloring is the act of repeatedly getting your hair dyed until you reach your desired hair color.

A home kit would probably say not to use it if you have been getting progressive hair coloring because it will interfere with what your stylist has been doing

Progressive hair coloring products contain lead acetate as the active ingredient. Lead acetate is approved as a color additive for coloring hair on the scalp at concentrations not exceeding 0.6% w/v, calculated as metallic lead (21 CFR 73.2396). Bismuth citrate, the other approved color additive (21 CFR 73.2110), is used to a much lesser extent. Progressive hair dyes change the color of hair gradually from light straw color to almost black by reacting with the sulfur of hair keratin as well as oxidizing on the hair surface.

Semi-permanent and temporary hair coloring products are solutions (on rare occasions dry powders) of various coal-tar, i.e. synthetic organic, dyes which deposit and adhere to the hair shaft to a greater or lesser extent. Temporary hair colors that must be reapplied after each shampooing. The vehicle may consist of water, organic solvents, gums, surfactants and conditioning agents. The coal-tar dyes are either listed and certified colors additives or dyes for which approval has not been sought. The dyes may not be non-permitted metallic salts or vegetable substances.

The active ingredient for progressive hair dye products is lead acetate. In the U.S, the current regulation governs that lead acetate can be used as color additive for hair coloring as long as the concentration is less than 0.6% w/v. The most noticeable difference between oxidation and progressive hair dyes is that progressive dyes are intended to give a more gradual change in hair color.

Semi-permanent and temporary products are either in the form of aerosal spray, solutions or dry poweders (or sometimes called fibers). The key ingredient is usually coal-tar carried by a vehicle that may consist of water, organic solvent, gums, surfactants, conditioning agents. In the US, the rules governing the quality of coal-tar dyes are confusing and there is no guarantee that the temporary or semi-permanent dye products you are using contain non-approved ingredients. Ethical manufacturers should always issue a caution statement in the packaging of their products advising consumers to do a small patch testing for skin sensitivity. Specifically, the US government suggests the following caution statement: ';This product contains ingredients which may cause skin irritation on certain individuals and a preliminary test according to a accompanying directions should first be made. This product must not be used for dyeing the eyelashes or eyebrows, to do may cause blindness.'; The US government further indicates that the manufacturer will be subject to regulartory actions if the caution statement is not properly addressed and if their products are found to be harmful under customary use.

Hair dyes work more like paint by covering hair strands with chemical colors or by mixing with the melanin granules without altering them.

There are three basic categories : 1) permanent, 2) semi-permanent, 3) temporary. Temporary form can be washed out instantly. As of now, permanent hair dyes are the most popular. They can be sub-divided into 1) oxidation hair dyes and 2) progressive hair dyes.

Oxidatioin hair dye products consist of dye intermediates and a solution of hydrogen peroxide. An example of dye intermediates is p-phenylenediamine which form hair dyes on chemical reaction. 2-nitro-p-phenylenediamine is another type of dye intermediates. They are already dyes and are added to achieve the intended shades. The dye intermediates and the hydrogen peroxide solution, often called the developer, are mixed shortly before application to the hair. The applied mixture causes the hair to swell and the dye intermediates penetrate the hair shaft to some extent before they have fully reacted with each other and the hydrogen peroxide and formed the hair dye.

Progressive hair dyes for men are products that gradually build up to the desired color with repeated use. Make sure that you educate yourself on the process by reading the box carefully before trying it. There is also a lot of controversy surrounding the long-term effects caused by the lead acetate often found in these products. So again, inform yourself and make sure you don't use a product that might be hazardous to your healthWhat does ';progressive hair coloring'; mean?

OK...I saw in your other question you are complaining about hair loss. I dont know if you have used both henna and color/bleach together, but you cannot do this. It will cause a bad reaction resulting in possibly green or even broken off hair.

Also, you should know that henna comes naturally in only one color...red-orange. Any other color (blond, brown etc) is a henna compound, which will contain chemicals or metallic salts or other plants. And some henna compounds can contain little (if any) henna.

if it had henna in it , it wouldn't have been blonde, since henna is only red color on hair, YOU probably had amla or chamomile , cassia or something else sold mistakenly as henna.

    Dark brown
As a hairstylist I say don't do it. If you have fair skin and dark hair, it will be too much of a contrast!!
the red will probably yellow out your skin, if i were you i'd skip the red and just do high and lowlights.

OK, so does can anyone give me a link for hot topic hair-coloring highlights in black, and I need a lot?

If you want to ';dye your hair lighter'; it must be bleached!

You can't use dye to make your hair lighter, only darker.

Bleach it first, then put the dye.Why is hair coloring not working for my hair?

Does new hair coloring ingredients damage your hair?

Got streaks for the first time by my hairstylist and heard my hair will fall out eventually by getting my hair colored. Is it safe/safer now than in the past?Does new hair coloring ingredients damage your hair?
Your hair will not fall out due to coloring. That is an old wives tale! This can only happen if your hair is colored improperly over a period of time and the damage done causes your hair to break off.

Technology has come so far with hair coloring! The latest haircolors available in salons are full of ingredients that oftentimes leave the hair in BETTER condition AFTER coloring!! =)

Im scared to try just anyone out, i would like some reccommendations from pple who have already gotten it done. Thanks you much much.Anyone know a good hair salon for purple hair coloring?
I dont thing you'll find a permanent color in purple. Usually, the unusual colors or demi or semi permenent. You could also save yourself some money and pick up Manic Panic dye from a major hair products retailer.Anyone know a good hair salon for purple hair coloring?
Permanent hair dye doesn't actually dye hair. The color of hair is determined by the number of follicles in the hair shaft, the more you have the darker it will be. So when you dye it darker you are just adding molecules. When you bleach you are dispersing molecules to create a lighter color. So permanent color can only be in the 1-10 range of natural hair colors. Unnatural colors are direct dyes, they do not go into the hair shaft, just stain the outside of it. The best brand of unnatural color by far is Punky Colour. It can stay in for months without washing out or fading. Salon junk washes out after three or four shampoos, so do it yourself. You will still have to bleach it first. It you want to have it done in a salon get Punky Colour and bring it in with you.

  • Which is the best brand to use for hair coloring?

Right now im thinking its between Clairol, Revlon or Loreal....

Im mainly looking for permanent long lasting color that wont fade easily, etc.

Which one is better and why?

personal experience is great!Which is the best brand to use for hair coloring?
I like to use Loreal Preference or Feria personally. Both last a decent amount of time as long as you take good care of your hair between colorings. I've been leaning towards Preference though because they have options within each shade so you can get cool, warm, or neutral tones...basically something to either boost or tone down reds, or just a neutral tone in the middle. But both make my hair extremely soft and they last, so either one is a good choice.

I personally did not like Clairol because the colors came out much darker than they were supposed to (ie. light brown came out very dark on my hair, and it doesn't do that with the other brands) and I didn't like Garnier because the color didn't last at all.Which is the best brand to use for hair coloring?

it should be fine, just maybe try going to a professional.

if it's dark and you try to dye it lighter with most at home kits, it'll turn it a little redish too.Can i change my hair color back after coloring it too dark?
It will fall out if you use bleach.
you can get it fixed. it should be fine. just dont get in the habit of dying it too often.
you'd have to get it bleached and then die the colour on top of it

What is in the hair coloring stuff from the store that causes damage to your hair. Or, what is in the stuff at?

Some contain metallic substances which are harsh and can leave a demarcation line. If done properly a salon color should be fine. You also need to use the proper after care products.

How do you get rid of peroxdie hair coloring?

i put peroxcide in my hair, it was brown now its blonde, but now i wanna how how to get rid of it quickly. how? this is an emergency. so please helpHow do you get rid of peroxdie hair coloring?
I don't know of any way to do it w/o a salon if you put a new dye on it then the peroxide will cause the color to turn either green or orange the safest thing to do is let it grow out and I know that isn't what you want to hear you could try a salon and see if they have something but peroxide removes all the colore al the way through the strand so a dye remover won;t work like it does with regular hair dye. But the hair stylist might know a dye that is strong enough to beat the peroxideHow do you get rid of peroxdie hair coloring?
you could cut all your hair off.
I think you should dye your hair with the dye you get at the hair store or a pharmancy.
    dye it back
Go to Sally's Beauty supply if you have one and ask for deposit only color in your natural shade then apply that the way you would any other type of color
The color is gone from your hair the only thing you can do is color it back with hair color.
I'd get some brown hair dye close to your original color and dye it back brown. I do that whenever I get tired of my highlights from the summer. Just make sure you wash your hair to get the peroxide out first. You might want to see a professional though just to be safe.
the only way you can do it is by coloring your hair again. It's not like you can WASH OUT peroxide because it didn't color your hair it stripped your hair and now there is no pigment. You just need to go to a salon and have them dye your hair back to it's natural color although...it probably won't stay because bleach or peroxide always breaks through.. meaning if you dye it a....level 4 dark brown the peroxide will break through and turn it into a level 6 light brown. depending on how blonde you went.

    good luck buddy!! = )

Is there purple hair coloring at Walmart?

I want to color my hair purple does anyone know if there is purple hair coloring at walmart in ohio?Is there purple hair coloring at Walmart?
There should be. I've seen some in the Walmarts here in MI.

If not, you can check hair supply stores. Is there purple hair coloring at Walmart?
dont thnk so, but go online 2 manicpanic.com. ul find tha perfect shade of purple
    walgreens for sure.
Well, I don't know about in Ohio but the one I go to in Wisconsin has a color that's called 'plum' %26amp; it's dark purple. It washes out though. It's not permanent.

If you want good color, go to Wallgreens %26amp; get Splat. It comes in purple, pink, green, blue. It's sweet. I love it.

    :]
WalMart should carry it but it is only the temporary dye. For permanent color I'd check a beauty supply store.
since every store sells a little bit different of items i guess you will have to inch away from the computer and call them and ask....shrugs or do the easy thing and go to your local place that cuts hair

I need help with my hair coloring issues?

In the past I have gotten my hair professionally colored, but as of now I am unable to afford it any more. Right now I have a deep red with black underneath and highlights as well. Which is too much for me to keep up with if I dye my own hair. I just want to do it all red. Will it turn out bad with the highlights already in my hair, and will I be able to cover the black?I need help with my hair coloring issues?
you need to bleach you hair before dying it red. that is the best way to home dye you hair and get it the color on the box.I need help with my hair coloring issues?
okay first things don't use box dye its bad for your hair, i went to empire beauty school. go to sally's beauty supplies u can get good color from there which is only $4 to $6 and u have to get bleach, they have professional stuff there. don't go wasting your money on box dye, it fades quicker and it kills your hair. i know i went through it, i still I'm i colored my hair when i was 12 and did it since i was 18 then i went to school. i found it out and I'm only 19. but please trust me its bad for your hair. okay the first thing for proof is what metallic ';box dyes'; dyes do to your hair. next 3 things are what u can get. If you don't believe me then u don't I'm just telling the truth
You won't be able to cover the black without bleaching first, but the highlights will color easily. Bleach shouldn't be hard to come by, but if you've bleached your hair where the black is before it's gonna be very fried.

Be careful what dyes you use, because there's a whole lotta crap out there... I suggest Special Effects hair dye. :)

Will royal blue Color Fiend hair coloring show up in brown hair without bleach?

My hair is all natural right now. It's a normal brown color. Would I still have to bleach my hair for the dark blue to show up?Will royal blue Color Fiend hair coloring show up in brown hair without bleach?
    yes you idiot

When a hair coloring box says ';not recommended'; for your hair color what does it mean?

I bought Loreal Paris excellence creme in Lightest Ultimate Blonde to give myself some highlights, but when I got it home it says ';Brown to black hair: not recommended'; does that mean it'll turn my hair red or something? My hair is medium to dark BrownWhen a hair coloring box says ';not recommended'; for your hair color what does it mean?
No I think it just means that it may not have a great effect since you really have to bleach dark brown hair to get it blonde. First of all, it's probably better to get a highlighting kit with a tool for making streaks (maybe you did this I couldn't tell from your description) and/or get a hair color made for dark hair, I think maybe clairol or something has a line called ';born blonde'; made for dark hair which contains bleach and some highlighting kits (garnier nutrisse) also is formulated to make dark hair lighter/blondeWhen a hair coloring box says ';not recommended'; for your hair color what does it mean?
It means you won't get the same result as the box shows. It will actually make your hair orange, not blonde.

For blonde highlights, you need a highlight kit which contains specially-formulated bleach for your hair. You can also buy the powdered bleach and accelerator at a beauty supply store and it's cheaper that way.
It means that the results that you get on your hair will probably we different from the ones that it shows. I have dark brown hair naturally and I got a hair lightener and it said that it wasn't recommended for dark brown hair so my hair turned out a little reddish but I liked it haha. So it depends, maybe you should try it on a little streak of your hair to see how it turns out.
sometimes, depending on the color of your hair before you dye it,

it will turn a different color if you dye it..

like from blonde to red, it will turn oompa loompa orange.
i say...life's too short to worry about what happens to your hair. so do it. since you're going for streaks anyways, i'm sure you could compensate for it or cover it up with a lighter color.

    ...right?
It just means that your hair is so dark that this color won't turn it the color that's on the box. I'm sure it will give you some highlights just don't expect to turn light blond.
More likely will turn it orange.

The bleach that is in it is not strong enough to get darker hair to the shade of blonde that is on the box.
it will turn ginger lol, those products don't work because there isn't enough peroxide in them, you need to go to a hairdresser.
it usually means that your hair colour cannot be properly dyed to the desired colour, so you will likely end up with highlights in a different colour than you intended
It means don't do it, don't risk it.

Mens hair coloring left stains on my forehead and ears?

Help - used mens hair coloring and it left stains on my forehead and my ears. I tried soap and water, tried hyd. peroxide, neither is helping. How do I get this off?Mens hair coloring left stains on my forehead and ears?
i'm a hairdresser...the best thing to use are cigarette ashes and a tiny bit of shampoo and rub it over the stained area in a circular motion...i wouldn't worry too much the natural oils in your skin will take it off, unless you're going out tonight than you have a little problem. Next time use a little vaseline on your hairline and ears or even cold cream is good, just don't get it on your hair or the color won't take.Mens hair coloring left stains on my forehead and ears?
    LOL.... Sorry..... LOL

You might want to try dishwashing soap. Keep it out of yer eyes tho!..... LOL
Well to your question in time it should go away but maybe you should go to a beauty salon about it, next time you color your hair just make sure you wipe it off your ears and around them plus your forhead after you color it so it doesn't stain i know i color my hair all the time and i never have any problems.
    use peroxide

    or bleach

    or lemon juice

    sea breeze astringent

same thing happened to me went away in about 2 days mine was red dye
Noxema, it's really cheap, just put it on your face and leave it on as long as needed and wash it off. That works for me with hair dye stains.

How to strip red hair coloring?

I use to bleach my hair blonde, than I dyed my hair more towards my natural color... it came out red-red. It was okay at first but now that my roots are growing in, I look like I have grey hair compared to the brassiness!

I like how my ends turned out because its a light color and already faded out nice, but my roots are horrible. How do I strip the red from my roots while not damaging my ends? How long do I leave the dish soap in?

Ten points for a helpful answer! How to strip red hair coloring?
never heard of it the only thing i can think of is bleach it out blond and then try and put something lightist red in with that ends of the roots and try but its veryhard when youhave roots it is do the entire thing and hope for the best but if you leave it on too long will get darker. How to strip red hair coloring?
Best idea is not to do it yourself, save up some money or turn in those pop bottles and go get a hairdresser to do it for you. It'll be worth it in the end and you'll have a lesser chance of destroying your hair.
I think you should go to the hair salon and get your hair fixed there. Because if you experiment again and it comes out all wrong you won't know what to do. Just tell them to dye your hair the colour you want it to be died.

    vinegar and salt
hm. i don't think you should do it yourself.

What product can be used between hair coloring for touch up?

What is the best product to buy for between hair coloring for touchupWhat product can be used between hair coloring for touch up?
Products are so vast in this day %26amp; age, all depends on your grade of hair, %26amp; color you have it colored. If you have foils in your hair , want a product will keep its color, maintain moisture. Moisture is key ,whenever you do any chemical process to your hair, whether perm, or coloring. I use Matrix products, plus Dumb Blonde , shampoo %26amp; conditioner just for color treated hair. Great, conditioner when you use it, keep it on for 2-5 minutes, while you shave or lather, work into scalp and hair, this will keep maintain hair color %26amp; healthy scalp , healthy hair. Good luck, if you are not sure, try Ulta..that store has salon in back, with great prices in hair products from all lines. Usually some one there is quite knowledgeable., just ask. What product can be used between hair coloring for touch up?
There are so many ways now to do this. There are mascara touch ups, and tiny lipstick types with your color to shape up roots. I would get your hair color, with the correct color prompt ( 10-40 ) and touch up yourself.

    ';Natural Instincts'; from Clairol.

erm ave you tried a chemist or maybe superdrug or boots..x

Why did the hair coloring make my hair lighter than the dye color?

Seriously -- I went with a color that is a little darker than my own, and now the dyed bits are lighter than the original color. Anyone else have this issue? Why did the hair coloring make my hair lighter than the dye color?
The developer used to color hair actually lifts the color from your hair and the ';dye'; or tint deposits color.

Washing and sun and other daily elements will actually lighten or make the tinted hair lighter. Why did the hair coloring make my hair lighter than the dye color?
Have you previously dyed your hair (perm? straighten?)? If yes, there will be spots that will hold more color than others...

Did you follow instructions carefully? Was this a very old box? Was the container opened and left to sit for days?

I had once, my hair go a diff color than on box. But mine was because of previous dye applications. (I didnt know my true hair color for yrs LOL)
I think you used bleach before you coloured your hair.

In that case, the colour wears out over time, for instance when you shampoo your hair, but the lighter colour of the bleached hair remains..
Something was wrong with either your hair and what has been previously done to it, or the color. The fact of the matter is, color you find in the store just isn't good, or reliable.

You will need to go to a salon to get this fixed. If you try to do it yourself again at home, you are only going to damage it further and make it look worse.
You went wrong somewhere when you were dying it. How much did you use. Maybe try redying it the same color and see what happens.
this means that your hair was originally to light to take the darker colour, and it needs to be done by a professional, because to darker your hair, you usually need to have a filler put on before the colour in order for it to take.

Can someone help me with blonde hair coloring?

Ok I went to do my roots last night, my hair turned flipping green! So I went and got some more color and that fixed the green but my hair is way more ashy then I like. Does anyone know how I can get the golden look back? Thanks for your help!!!Can someone help me with blonde hair coloring?
first, deep condition! that many products will damage your hair if you aren't careful. also, for future reference, ketchup neutralizes the green in blond hair without the damage chemicals do (weird, but true!)

as far as the ashiness, regular golden blond hair dye should work just fine over what you have. after that, use lorial luminous color glaze. expensive but WONDERFUL product. restores the golden color, helps keep it, and leaves your hair shiney and managable. Can someone help me with blonde hair coloring?
Just be careful and don't use too many products too close in time. I fried my hair doing just that!
wait two days and redue it the color you want it
    Use a Loreal Product!
That's really weird you hair turned green! I would build the your golden color back up. Maybe start with a blonde highlight first and then maybe go back to dying the whole thing.

What is the difference between women's & men's hair coloring system?

...besides that mens has a man's face on it and the woman's has a woman's face on it?What is the difference between women's %26amp; men's hair coloring system?
I just went over this a few minutes ago with my friend.. you just said it! theres no difference they just put either a men or woman face on the packaging. They did that because when men color their hair they want to feel manly and get a dye that has a mans picture on it...a guy doesnt wanna go to the register with a box of dye that has a girl on it. either one it works on the hair of men or women. My uncle went to the store and they didnt have mens dye and he just got a box of womens dye but he felt embarrased getting and paying for the box of womens dye so my aunty did it for him hahahWhat is the difference between women's %26amp; men's hair coloring system?
probably just the packaging...most men probably don't want to be using women's stuff so they make it more guy friendly!

  • What do you dilute (to get more) home hair coloring kits with? Water, conditioner, what?

I need to get more haircoloring out of one box of home hair color, so what can you dilute it with without losing or changing the color itself? It is a darker auburn (red/brown) color that I use all the time, but I have very very thick hair, and two boxes of hair color at once is too much and is a waste, but one is just not enough. What do you dilute (to get more) home hair coloring kits with? Water, conditioner, what?
Only mix half of the second box and same what's left to use as the half of the next time! I only use half of a box and I only mix half and save the other half!@What do you dilute (to get more) home hair coloring kits with? Water, conditioner, what?
Umm just buy two boxes because seriously they are dirt cheap and if you dilute it, it will look totally crappy. But the best idea of all is to get your hair professionally done. Nothing beats professional. And if you insist on doing it yourself, buy two boxes and think about how much you are saving by doing it yourself!

    I know I am fabulous!
Just buy 2 boxes.. as cheap as they are you won't be wasting money.. Definatley do not dilute the products because you're asking for trouble trying to stretch it out.. The color won't come out as vibrant and you'll be doing changes to the chemicals in the product.

Also if you buy 2 boxes and only use one and a half just throw the rest away and don't try to save it. Always play it safe with chemicals.

Is it ok to use drug store box hair coloring?

I saw this pretty color in the store, that I want to put on my hair. But is it best to get it done professionally which cost like 100.00. Which one is the safest to do? would you use a box hair color? Is it ok to use drug store box hair coloring?
it usually doesnt turn out, about 4 years ago i turned my hair green, and i didnt do anything that wasnt supposed to be done, i will never do it again..i will just pay whatever to have a professional take care of my hair..because when it messed up i had to go spend 5 hours at the salon and nearly 200 dollars to have it stripped, deep conditioned, and re-colored..so its definetly cheaper in the long run to have a professional take care of it..Is it ok to use drug store box hair coloring?
If you do decide to use the inexpensive hair color (I have for years), be sure not to skimp on the shampoo and conditioners you use. When I switched to products made specifically for color-treated hair, I found there was a huge difference in the texture, color and light-reflecting qualities in my hair.
I use hair colour from boxes and it always works out well. You have to re-dye it every six weeks or so to cover your roots, so if you have it done at a salon you'll be paying a lot!
    ehh.

personally i would not even do it yourself.

get a professional. I get my haired colored and tinted and it only costs like $60.00.

    not that bad at all!

Can you buy the conditioners found in hair coloring kits seperately?

I really didn't know how to word this question, but I just dyed my hair a light brown and I really like the color (I did it at home by myself). I have only dyed my hair a few times before, but I've noticed that after I use the deep conditioner that is included in the box and blow dry it and straighten it with my straightening iron, my hair feels extremely soft and silky. I was just wondering if you can buy the conditioner separately and use it daily? I also noticed that after I straightened my hair it smells great, just like the conditioner, and with my regular shampoo and conditioner it doesn't smell as good after I blow dry/straighten it...it just smells like the straightening iron. Thanks for any replies! Can you buy the conditioners found in hair coloring kits seperately?
not exactly the same brands from the one included in you haircolor kit but even better ones i should say. you could get these conditioners at your local sally beauty supply. they come in individual packages and are very very cheap and work miracles leaving hair super soft and shiny, i even used them when my hair wasn't dyed. I forgot the name of it but it comes in a white and burgundy color package. there a little bigger than the ones in the haircoloring kits. you could find them right next to the oils like the hair polishing ones. Can you buy the conditioners found in hair coloring kits seperately?
You can't buy the conditioner separately. The coloring companies want you to keep using their color product. L'oreal puts out a color line that has a 6 week conditioner with it. You only use it once a week though. In the interum, I've found Wen and this product is just like the conditioners you get in a kit. Look at the website chazdean dot com. His products are there. They last forever. HTH
No. What I do is use just a little of it and leave it on longer then I save the rest and use it every now and then to soften and brighten the shine. I like it too.

go to a professionalWhat hair coloring technique can i use to change my hair color?
Amen to the prior answerer. Black hair has to be dyed lighter by a professional - you could end up with a nasty ashy color or worse without someone who knows what they are doing.

There is no way that you can go from black hair to blonde hair without first stripping out your natural dark colour and dying it dark blonde. And then if you decided that you hated it, and wanted to go back to your natural colour, it would be almost impossible to get the dark colour to stay without fading.

Instead of taking this irrevocable step, why don't you try wearing a dark blonde wig for a few days, so you can get a good idea of how you would look in different situations. Give yourself time to make an honest evaluation. And then maybe keep the wig for a change from your natural hair colour, once in awhile, without damaging your own hair.

It only takes about 5 washes and the color completely fades. However, I need something that doesn't damage the hair, either. What's the best long-lasting hair coloring product?
If you want to use permanent color on your hair, there will be damage no matter what. Only demi and semi permanent hair color doesn't damage it. So if you want to go darker, try PM Shines by Paul Mitchell (demi-permanent). If you want to lighten your hair (or go darker too) use The Color also by Paul Mitchell. This hair color has the same level ammonia no matter how light or dark you want to go which means less damage. It also has a beeswax base which gives shine to the hair and smells like Eucalyptus. What's the best long-lasting hair coloring product?
Well usually the hair colour product that lasts for 3 days is Schwarzkofph Live. I reccommend using Loreal.

It could be a conversation starter or you may even start a whole new fashion trend. How do you remove hair coloring that has stained your skin?
the best way to remove hair dye from your skin is to use laundry detergent, we used this in my class and it works just fine. How do you remove hair coloring that has stained your skin?
    Baby oil
    Potato peeler
i use water and soap or my shampoo.
use warm water and normal soap you will have to rub hard to get it out or what i do wait and let time take it off
I've heard that lemon or lime juice helps. It may lighten the dye, but sometimes you just have to be patient, scrub, and wait for the dye to come out. If it gets on your nails, they will probably have to grow out, so just find some darker nail polish that you like and paint your nails (or have fun explaining to other people why your nails are a funny shade of black).
I am not sure what the name of the stuff is but if you go to a beauty supply store they have specific products for that reason. Just dont get the creme stuff doesnt work that great. Also you might want to try Sea Breeze skin astringent that also works pretty well and it isnt very harsh.

Has anyone had good results from the hair coloring you buy at the store?

I always go to a salon and I was thinking of trying the box ones, but I am skeptical. What color did you use, what color was your hair before, what brand, and what were the results?Has anyone had good results from the hair coloring you buy at the store?
My hair is strawberry blonde also. I use the Nutri Garnier, it's made from all natural products and the color last a long time. Preference by Loreal is also good but I have a tough time finding the right color for my hair. I just like coloring mine a bit redder than it is naturally.Has anyone had good results from the hair coloring you buy at the store?
the shop dyes arent true in what they advertise ie, a medium brown turns out black! also the chances are very high that it wont turn out how you want it. i promise you i have seen more home colour disasters than i can remember! i've seen patchy black to brigh yellow to khaki green, please dont do it!
I dont color my hair much now but when I used to I went to Walmart %26amp; got the box stuff. I used every thing from L'oreal to Garnier Fructis. They all worked the same for me just choose whatever you like. Here are some tips that will help you get salon results at home.

    - You might need to get some one to help you so you get all of the hair in the back.

    - Do it in layers %26amp; make sure you get all of your hair because if you miss one spot then it looks blotchy %26amp; nasty.

    - If you have thick hair then get 2 boxes.

    - Also leave it in your hair for a little longer than it tells you to if you have thick or coarse hair. Especially if you are dying it a lighter color.

I hope this helps! Good Luck :)
    yes, try Loreal 3D Feria
Nope, I had light brown hair and got a medium dye. It turned my hair pitch black. Then another time I dyed it a light brown and it came out red. Stick to salons. Plus the box dye fades REALLY fast.
I've had fairly good results mostly with semi colors. Herbal Essecne was the best.

If you can get your hands on Redken EQ shades coloring and the developer you'll not only be using something gentle but something that will leave your hair so glossy. To use you just mix 2oz of developer with the 2oz coloring, add to dry hair, leave on 10 mins, rinse out and condition.
I swore by Loreal Preference for years. I don't do it anymore, because I don't have the time or the patience now. Also, I have learned to love my dark hair with the snow white strands coming in. They are like medals in the military, they simply signify your experience.
Clairol is probably the best for over the counter use....The public can buy it...Professionals used to use it way back then in the shops..Wella is good also, you can buy it at sallys..L'oreal feria has got to be the worst..Dries your hair out and is unpredictable, and if you dont like the color its reallly hard to remove..Those are my picks outside of the salon...
I love how ';Feria'; looks. it is a very natural color not like a dye from awhile back. I have gone quite blond and then took my hair back to a medium brown and it always comes out great.
I like the one called ';Natural Match';. I think it works best. My hair is reddish brown. Sometimes I choose the golden medium brown and sometimes I go natural medium brown.
I color my hair regularly, and have for years. It comes out as good as any professional color. I use Miss Clairol from Sally Beauty Supply, I don't know if you can buy it at drugstores. It's the best one I've tried; the L'Oreal made my hair very dry, and the color faded quickly. But then, maybe that's just my hair. If you'd like to try your own color, get a good brand. If you have a Sally in your area, you can ask them for advice, or call the helpline # for Clairol or L'Oreal or whatever color you like. Or email them, they will help you. You must, must, must do the strand test, mixing just a bit of the color and developer and applying to a small strand (you either cut a piece off, or apply to a strand under the top layer). This is crucial to avoid the hair disasters that happen to so many.
Yeah I've dyed my hair alot and the salon is probably your best bet. But if you do decide to try some from the store use the amonia -free ones. I've had very good results from any of the amonia-free hair dyes at the store..
yes. i forget what kind it was...i think loreal. it was the kind where you add your own highlights. it turned out really good and everyone kept asking me where i got it done at. i've noticed that when you get your hair done at the salons it doesn't last as long as that one.

it was like a golden color. it was nice. don't use anything ash, don't try to dye your hair brown or a darker color. store haircolorings should really only be used to enhance what you already have.
my moms friend uses it and her hair looks great!
cuased mee to have real dry hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I have had my hair dyed at the salon once, it was horrible. I now usually only use the boxed ones. They are pretty accurat. I ahve fine hair as well. I usually use garnier, they have avocado oils that keep your hair healthy and hydrated. My original color is dirty-dishwater blonde, but I dye it usually a light aburn color, and put in the cinnamon highlights. My complextion and the [natural] color of my eyebrows allow me to experiment with anything from blonde to redhead.

Hair coloring, should I stick to doing at home or should I get a professional to do it?

when I color my hair at home, I buy the best prodects out there, but it becomes very dry and looks damaged. Will it be any better if I do it at a salon? and why?Hair coloring, should I stick to doing at home or should I get a professional to do it?
I always did mine at home and it was fine, but i used the 5-week washout kind, not permanent. That's a bit gentler on your hair. It's called ';level 2'; in most brands. Level 1 washes out in a week or less, level 2 takes 4-6 weeks to wash out, while level 3 is permanent.

Instead of going to a salon, I'd recommend finding a good conditioner specifically made for color-treated hair. They do wonders!Hair coloring, should I stick to doing at home or should I get a professional to do it?
It's still just as damaging. They just have better products to make it look better.

Maybe it will turn out better at a salon but your hair will still be dry and damaged because of the chemicals in the hair dye. Let the oils in your hair build up before dying it that way it won't do as much damage.

My how do I remove old hair coloring from hair without bleaching?

I dyed my hair a few months ago and my natural hair is half grown back I want to highlight my hair without dying it buy how do i do that when half my hair is like a brownish red.My how do I remove old hair coloring from hair without bleaching?
i am a stylist and national educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems....you dont do anything! this is a very complex situation that you will only make worse if you try to do it yourself... go to your stylist and let them know what you want to accomplish, however, there is nothing that can be done without using some sort of chemical i.e bleach, or color remover, then your hair will have to be re-colored to the desired shade. short of cutting off the previously colored hair, this is your only option. sorry. My how do I remove old hair coloring from hair without bleaching?
You have to go to a hair dresser and have your hair stripped. Im not exactly sure what the process is or how much it cost, but a friend of mine has had it done.
